What it is
ChatWork is a chat operator employer for adults who want to be paid for answering sexting messages from users aged 18 and over. It pays individual operators, men and women of 18 and older, and it only accepts applicants who currently live in the United Kingdom or the European Union. Joining is free and there is no contract. The homepage states that a new account receives a bonus at sign-up.
The work is text first. An operator logs in on a laptop or mobile phone, answers incoming messages from a profile of their own, and is paid for each message answered. A webcam option sits beside it for operators who want to earn by the hour. The site presents the whole thing as a flexible home job with its own working hours, and it says payouts are made automatically to a bank account once the balance passes a set threshold.
How earning works
The core of the job is replying to chat messages. The homepage explains that an operator receives sexchat messages on their ChatWork account and gets money for every answered message. The earnings page puts it in one line, "Earn money per message answered. Be creative, earn more!", and the site's pitch rests on that: the more messages an operator answers, and the more inventive the replies, the more is credited to the account. The messages come from users the site describes as 18+. The pages say operators can chat about all kinds of topics, and that they will also get sexually oriented messages, so the role assumes comfort with adult conversation. The signup page asks applicants to state a motivation and to say whether they want webcam work.
The text work is anonymous. The earnings page describes it as "Anonymous. Answer discreetly messages with your own profile." The homepage adds that messages arrive on a profile the operator created on the platform, and that the operator is expected to keep the conversation going, exciting and fun. The site asks operators to try to answer the sexting messages creatively, and it tells prospective operators the job suits people who like chatting and can keep an exciting, fun conversation alive.
The tools are minimal and the pages say so plainly. All an operator needs is a laptop or mobile phone, since the earnings page states, "You need a laptop or mobile phone to answer the sexting chat messages." Earnings are visible online: the homepage says an operator can see immediately how much has been earned in the account, and the earnings page invites registered operators to log in to view their earnings. The pages describe no leaderboards, bonus tiers or training program.
Hours are the operator's own. The earnings page lists "Your own working hours. Choose when and how long you want to work." It also lists "Work where you want. Choose your own work environment. Work from home, the bus or at the park." The homepage describes the role as a part-time or full-time home job where the operator decides how long to work, and its feature list reads fast payout, no contract, since 2008, own working hours, work from home, perfect side job, and broadcast webcam. The homepage also says "Join WorkChat, reliable chat work operator since 2008", so the service is named WorkChat in that sentence and ChatWork everywhere else.
The second earning route is the webcam. The homepage says, "Webcam on? Earn money immediately by broadcasting via webcam!" It claims that turning on the webcam earns "4X as fast" as text alone, and that when broadcasting, an operator earns a fixed amount per hour that rises quickly. Those are the site's own claims, not a rate the reader can bank on. The signup form carries a tick-box for webcam work with the note that webcam earners automatically get priority, so the site gives priority to operators who choose it.
Money and rules
The pay model is a rate per answered message for text and a fixed hourly amount for webcam broadcasting, paid out automatically every week to the bank details the operator enters. The pages, as read in October 2026, state these rules and figures.
- Payout set-up: the operator verifies the ChatWork account and enters bank details for the automatic payouts. A bank account is the only payout destination the pages mention.
- Contract: sign-up is free, there is no contract, and the operator can quit when they want.
- Payout threshold and schedule: "Accounts above £50,- get automatically paid every week."
- Sign-up bonus: £10 at registration.
- Webcam rate: the homepage advertises a fixed amount per hour which, in its words, "quickly increases to £20 per hour".
- Age: applicants must be 18 or older, and the form asks for an ID upload "so we can verify your age."
- Identity check: "Each account must be verified with a passport or driver's license." The signup form also asks for a selfie holding a piece of paper with the word Chatwork written on it.
- Where: because of payment and tax reasons, only people currently residing in the United Kingdom or the European Union can apply.
- Gender: the signup form offers Male, Female, Transgender, Transfluid and Non-binary.
The site does not publish what it pays per answered message. The pound sign runs through every page, from the bonus to the threshold to the webcam figure, and the signup form asks for a name, date of birth, gender, a short motivation, an e-mail address, a phone number and a password of at least 5 characters before the two identity uploads. The site says applicants can get started immediately after approval, so the form is a screening step rather than an instant account.
Who it suits and who it does not
ChatWork suits an adult in the UK or EU who wants a low-commitment way to earn from text conversations and is comfortable with sexual chat. The no-contract structure and free signup mean an operator can try it without any outlay, and a person who wants an anonymous profile, a laptop or phone as the only equipment, and their own hours will find that matches what the pages promise. An operator who is already doing cam work can add the webcam option under the same account, and the form notes that webcam earners get priority.
It suits less well anyone outside the UK and EU, since the signup page rules out other residents outright. It also suits less well a person who needs to plan income before starting. What a message pays is something an operator sees only inside the account, after approval. The earnings page sets automatic payment only for balances above its threshold, so a part-time operator is paid only once the running balance has passed that mark, and a bank account is the only payout route the pages name. Finally, the identity steps are real: a passport or driving license upload and a selfie with a handwritten note come before any work, so an operator who is unwilling to hand over documents should not expect to be accepted.
