What the business is

Get a Phone Sex Job is the hiring site of a phone sex company that calls itself female operated and owned and says it has been in business for over 20 years. It recruits independent contractor phone sex operators who take calls from established clients. The pay basis is per call, not per hour, and the operator sets their own schedule. The stated requirements point to a US-based worker: residence in the United States, a valid photo ID, a private phone line and a personal computer.

It describes a "friendly, comfortable, no drama working environment" for its operators, which it calls phone mates. The company dispatches calls through a chat tool, so the job is closer to taking assigned calls than to building a profile and finding an audience.

How earning works

An operator talks to callers by phone and is paid for the call. The Your Role page is direct about it: "you are paid per call rather than by the hour." That shapes how the job works. The page tells operators they are not necessarily concerned with hold time. They are concerned that the caller is happy. Some clients may be done in 10 minutes while others want to talk for hours, and an operator who tries to stretch a short caller's call may find the caller never phones back. Repeat callers matter for this reason, and the page says an operator who treats callers as the most important person in the world will see a repeat caller list grow.

One pay lever is named. When a caller asks for an operator by name, the page says it is considered a request and the operator is paid more money for the call. That is why the role page tells operators to always remind callers of their name.

Calls reach operators through dispatch. The About page says dispatch communication runs over Google Chat, installed on a computer or cell phone, and describes it as chat only, "not visual", used for dispatch communication only. To stay active on the platform, an operator must display when they are available to take calls next. Operators do not have to work a set schedule and can log in whenever they like.

The company says it has established clientele that have been calling for many years. For a new operator, that means calls come from the company's existing callers rather than from an audience the operator builds. The company says it dispatches calls on everything from taboo conversation to vanilla phone sex to therapy type calls. The requirements add a line that matters for the fetish-content side of the work: "Be ok with fetish and out of the ordinary calls."

The Your Role page describes the job in some detail. The operator provides confidentiality to a caller discussing fantasies, some of which the caller may never have told anyone, and the caller has to feel comfortable and not judged. The page says the role can be described as an actress, chat operator, phone sex operator and even, in the caller's eyes, sometimes a companion. Customer service skills are named as the most important tool, and the page lists qualities it wants: good listening skills, open-mindedness about sexual matters, friendliness, self-confidence, creativity and acting skills. The home page repeats this as a short list of qualities: a good listener, a friendly non-judgmental personality, a good grasp of the English language, creativity, and being outgoing and confident enough to lead a conversation.

The application is an online form. It asks for a name, email, date of birth, gender, country, address, phone number, time zone, best time to contact, and a start date. It asks whether the applicant has ever been convicted of a crime, with a box to explain a yes, and whether the applicant can provide a valid photo ID. The form says the ID will be used as proof that the applicant is 18 years or older, and that paychecks will be made out to the name on the ID. A scanned copy of a government issued photo ID has to be uploaded at the end of the application. The form closes with open questions about the applicant's computer habits and a prompt to say more about themselves. The country menu on the form lists countries around the world, while the stated requirement is residence in the United States, so the stated rule is the one to rely on.

Money and rules

The pay model is per call, with more money for a call where the caller requested the operator by name, and payment arrives as a paycheck made out to the name on the operator's photo ID. The role and requirements pages carry no per-call rate or pay dates. The site's menu has a separate FAQs and Pay page for that.

The requirements, as the About page lists them:

  • Be 18 or older. The About page says people of various ages work there, including a mature age group of 50+; the home, role and application pages put that group at 60+.
  • Be a resident of the United States and have a valid photo ID that can be emailed as a copy.
  • Be able to install Google Chat on a computer or cell phone.
  • Have a private phone line without an unknown number or privacy call block feature.
  • Have a personal computer with internet access and a private place to work.
  • Be computer literate at a basic level, such as copy/paste, instant messaging and typing in English.
  • Have an open mind and be creative about subject matter.
  • Be ok with fetish and out of the ordinary calls.
  • Display when you are available to take calls next.

The role page labels the work as independent contractor, and its headline describes the operator as "an actress, chat operator, and even a companion". The one conduct rule it spells out is about priorities: the operator is there to provide for the caller's needs and not their own.

Who it suits and who it does not

This suits a US-based operator who has no audience and does not want to market themselves. The company supplies the callers, the dispatch and the work, and the operator brings a phone, a computer, a quiet room and a willingness to talk. It fits someone who wants no fixed schedule and is comfortable with being paid per call, because a good repeat caller and a by-name request are the stated routes to better income. The mention of older workers and the female ownership may matter to a woman who wants to know who runs the company.

It is a poor fit for anyone outside the United States, and anyone without a private phone line free of an unknown-number or privacy call block feature. It also does not suit an operator who wants to avoid fetish or out of the ordinary calls, because willingness to take them is a stated requirement. The photo ID, the criminal conviction question and the emailed ID copy mean there is a real screening step before any work.
