What Fantia is
Fantia is a Japanese fan club platform, written ファンティア on its own pages, that pays creators for paid fan club plans, back issues, tips, post and download sales, shop goods and commissions. It describes itself as a place where anyone can register for free and receive support from fans: 誰でも無料で登録でき、あなたを応援したいファンからの支援を受けられます (anyone can register free and receive support from fans who want to back you). The home page carries an 18+ adult label, and adult and all-ages fan clubs sit side by side. Illustrators, manga artists, cosplayers, 3D creators, game makers and voice performers are the genres its creator guide builds its examples around.
The market is Japan first. The interface switches between Japanese, English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Korean, but the help center, the creator guide and the payout steps are in Japanese. Sales are transferred to the bank account a creator registers, and overseas transfers by bank account or PayPal are handled individually on request above a sales threshold.
How earning works on Fantia
Fan club plans. Opening a fan club creates a free plan automatically. The creator guide says: 無料プランのほか、ご希望の会費でファンの方に限定特典を提供する「有料プラン」を作成できます (besides the free plan, you can create paid plans that give fans limited benefits at the fee you choose). In October 2026 the help center says a paid plan can be priced anywhere from 100 yen to 100000 yen, with no cap on the number of plans. A plan's price cannot be edited once it exists; to change it, a creator applies to delete the plan and makes a new one. A plan with members stops taking new joins as soon as deletion is requested and is removed at the end of the following month. The free plan cannot be deleted, though its member count can be capped.
The guide prints model plan ladders by genre, each starting with a free tier. For illustration and manga the free tier carries art already on social media, the middle tier high-resolution versions, unreleased art or rough sketches, and the top tier PSD files or a published doujinshi. For cosplay and photos the free tier is event announcements and activity reports, followed by unreleased images and off-shots, then photo reports from shoots and uncut videos. For 3D video the tiers rise from a 60FPS version to 2K and 4K versions, for games from prototype builds to the finished game, and for voice work from regular free-talk streams to line requests and limited goods. As read in October 2026, the paid sample tiers start at 300 yen and end at 3000-5000 yen for the top cosplay tier. These are Fantia's examples, not earnings figures.
Posting. A post can carry files such as video, audio and zip archives, a product introduction for shop goods, an embedded outside URL such as YouTube, or a blog-style article with images. Each added content block has its own visibility, so one post can show a public top section to non-members and locked content to members of a given plan or higher. Posts can be scheduled for a future date, and the guide advises posting at a regular time, daily or weekly, over several posts in one day. Every new post sends a notification to all of the creator's fans.
Back numbers. A creator posts this month's members-only content, sets the join deadline to 23:59 on the last day of the posting month, and the content is sold as a back number from the next month. The setting works per post, and back number prices can be changed from the plan list but not month by month. The guide notes that many creators set the back number price equal to the plan price.
Tips. Fans can tip on any post, paid or free, and creators without a paid plan can still receive tips; tip acceptance is on by default. The guide says tip money is paid to the creator in full apart from the fee: チップ機能による支援金額は、手数料を除きすべてクリエイターに支払われます. As of October 2026, a single post can take tips up to 10万円 (100,000 yen). Tipped posts get a colored frame and the fan's stamp, which makes them stand out in listings.
Commissions. The commission feature is a system where 報酬が得られる (a creator earns a reward) by answering fan requests and delivering. Creators set a minimum price and request conditions in advance, and requests below the minimum are not accepted. A creator has 7 days to approve a request, after which it cancels automatically, and delivery is due within 30 days of approval or the request is canceled. Deliverables are digital files only; the creator keeps the copyright and may publish the work on Fantia or social media. Commissions are open to creators running only a free plan. The service fee, read in October 2026, is 報酬の10% (10% of the reward), charged only when there is a reward.
Shop and Fantia Market. A creator can skip the fan club and open a shop on Fantia Market, which the guide says gathers 21万点以上 (over 210,000) works, with keyword and tag search and sample previews. A shop account can be upgraded to a fan club, irreversibly. Ranking pages list popular creators, posts, products, lottery products and commissions, and fans can search by creator, post, product, commission and tag, so there is discovery inside the platform.
Other tools. The help center covers a talk feature for creators, mass messages to members, announcements by CSV, gift codes for plans, and a Fantia affiliate service (Fantiaアフィリエイトサービス) with articles on creating affiliate URLs, the reward rate and how rewards are received.
Money and rules
The creator guide's sales section sets the payout flow. The amount for a month is confirmed on the 10th of the following month; the creator clicks to request transfer between the 10th and the 25th of that month; and the money arrives on the 10th of the month after the request. In October 2026 the transfer fee is 330円 (330 yen), paid by the creator, and a creator whose balance is below that fee cannot request a transfer. If a transfer bounces because of wrong account details, a separate return fee is deducted on re-transfer. The sales note adds ※1 実写カテゴリの場合は15%です (for the live-action category it is 15%); the base platform fee it qualifies is in a help article titled カテゴリ毎のプラットフォーム手数料 (platform fee by category).
Overseas transfers go by bank account or PayPal, handled individually, for creators whose sales reach 50,000 yen (the threshold stated in October 2026), with a transfer fee taken from sales. Requests made by the 25th are sent on the 10th of the next month. Sales can also be converted to Tora Coins.
On identity, the help center's ID article opens with 全年齢・成人向けを問わず全てのファンクラブにて身分証の提出が (ID submission, for every fan club, all-ages or adult alike), and creators posting live-action work are asked to submit age verification documents and agree to the terms and posting guidelines. Creators whose work falls under Japan's AV new law are asked to submit the related documents. For creators who are consumption-tax businesses, Fantia issues payment statements carrying its invoice number, and when a buyer asks for a qualified invoice, Fantia issues it under the Toranoana name and registration number so that the creator's own name and number are not shown to the buyer.
Fans pay by card, Tora Coins, convenience store, Pay-easy bank transfer or atone. Fan club dues are charged on the 1st of each month, and shop goods must as a rule ship within 7 days of payment.
Who it suits and who it does not
Fantia suits a Japanese-speaking creator, from illustrators to cosplayers and voice performers, who wants recurring plans, back numbers, tips, commissions and goods in one account, with in-platform rankings and search to bring fans. The fixed payout calendar and a flat transfer fee are easy to plan around, and the commission rules protect a creator's time with a minimum price and an approval window.
The caveats: the documentation is in Japanese, payouts wait until the second month after the sales month, and creators outside Japan must reach the sales threshold before an overseas transfer is offered.
